Transparent Pool Floor Above an Office
In this Copenhagen home, the idea started with a simple request: the client wanted to swim at home.
But the space told a different story. The available area was too limited for a traditional counterflow pool, and directly beneath it sat a home office, a space that depended on light and openness.
Without the right approach, the project risked becoming a compromise, a pool that underperformed, and a room below that felt enclosed and cut off. What could have been a limitation became the foundation of the project.
ClearRock was brought in to make both spaces work together, not against each other.
Concept & Design
From the outset, the challenge was clear: integrate a fully functional counterflow system into a space that technically should not allow it.
Through careful design and close collaboration with Binder, the proportions of both the pool and the system were reworked. Every dimension was optimized to ensure a strong and consistent swimming experience, despite the limited footprint.
At the same time, the floor of the pool was no longer treated as just a structural element. It became the key to the entire concept. Instead of separating the pool from the office below, it would connect them.

Acrylic Panel Fabrication
To make this possible, a fully transparent acrylic panel was engineered to form the base of the pool. Manufactured and assembled in our facility in the Netherlands, the panel was designed to withstand continuous load and pressure while maintaining perfect optical clarity.
Protective coatings and finishes were applied where needed to ensure long-term durability without compromising transparency. This was not simply about inserting a window.
It was about creating a structural element that could carry the weight of the pool while remaining visually invisible.
Installation
Once on site, the pool was carefully installed above the office on a steel support structure. The positioning, alignment, and integration required absolute precision. Working closely with the contractor, the system was secured and connected to filtration and counterflow components without affecting the clarity or performance of the acrylic panel. Every detail had to hold, structurally, technically, and visually.

Final Result
What was once a spatial constraint is now the defining feature of the home.
The pool delivers a complete swimming experience within a compact space, while the transparent floor transforms the office below. Natural light passes through the water, reflections shift throughout the day, and the movement above becomes part of the space itself.
The two areas are no longer separate. They interact.
More than a pool, this project redefines how space can be used, showing that even within limitations, it is possible to create something that enhances not just one room, but the entire environment around it.
